Personal development is also known as self-development or personal growth. Personal growth is about improving yourself. There is no single formula that defines the path to personal success.
It can include increasing your self-awareness, taking part in new activities and developing your skills. It includes the development of positive life skills and the development of a realistic and healthy self-esteem.
We all have different goals and priorities, which means that different activities and attitudes will make us feel good about ourselves. We also have different natural strengths and weaknesses that are a part of our inherent personality type.

Personal development involves mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.

There are many ways in which you can practice personal growth some involve working with others such as a personal or professional coach, others can be as simple as reading a book or watching a tutorial video.
Many people use personal growth techniques and tools to explore different aspects of their personality. They also use it to develop life skills. These life skills tend to fall into the following categories;
  • feeling about self,
  • intimacy,
  • family,
  • friends,
  • community,
  • job,
  • leisure,
  • and spirituality.
Being able to recognize and describe one's feelings, giving and receiving feedback, recognizing assumptions, setting realistic and attainable goals, and employing problem-solving strategies are all considered to be really important life skills and often feature as part of people's personal and professional goals.
The benefits of personal growth include improved talents and skills, and increased chances of a fulfilling and successful life. You can also enjoy better health and quality of life, increased self knowledge and awareness, enhanced social abilities, self identity, and increased chances of reaching your potential.
Personal growth is about improving yourself, there are many different ways that you can do this.  It's a journey something we all do continuously whether we are conscious of it or not.
But the more conscious we are about our own personal growth the more proactive we can be in taking steps to improve ourselves to live to our values and to achieve our dreams.
Taking control of your personal development also helps you to improve your confidence and self esteem as you can see the changes in yourself as a result of concrete actions you have taken.
