Your Calling and Purpose

Do you have a STRONG feeling you’re here on this earth to contribute something valuable, only you can’t put your finger on what it is?

Are you tired of your soul-sucking job and dying to find not just another job, but your true calling? Would you give anything if only your fairy godmother would just tell you exactly what the Universe is calling you to do?

It’s normal to take time to find your true purpose or calling. You might have an inkling of what it is but chances are if your reading this you have not yet spent a great deal of time figuring out exactly what your calling is.
In our signature program ‘The Happy Single’ we have created a “What is my cause” worksheet to help you with the process.
But before we get to the workbook I thought we should look at some of the signs that you have not found your true cause yet:
  • You can’t remember how to play
  • You dream about making a difference, and doing something you love, but you have no clue what that could be.
  • You feel a chronic sense of wistful longing for something that’s missing but you can’t put your finger on what’s missing.
  • You feel anxious though you’re not quite sure why.
  • You avoid quiet time because it makes you think and question too much
  • You groan every time you hear the alarm clock sound
  • Everything seems hard
  • You find it difficult to answer when people ask you what you love
  • You find yourself asking questions like, “Is this all there is?”
  • You make excuses for why you could never do what you love professionally
  • You seek happiness in superficial things
  • You dread talking about your work
  • You count the days until Friday and the months until your next vacation
If you woke up one day and found out you only had three months left to live would you be living life the way you are now? If your answer is no then our worksheet is for you.  It time to start prioritizing what you want and making sure that every day is your best day ever.
Most people who have a dream struggle to articulate it; they don’t know what it is or what it should look like.
So where should you start?
Start by discovering what is important to you. Now there are lots of advocates for making a list of things you love, and practicing gratitude. This is great but we have found (as I mentioned above) that if you have really strayed from the path of your true calling then you can often find it really difficult to identify what you love.
But there is one thing we all have in common that can help us pinpoint exactly what’s important to us, and that is where we spend our money.
Why not try the exercises in the workbook?
Ok so your beginning to identify what you love, but you’re a bit skeptical how has what I love got anything to do with the realities of my day-to-day life? Well if you’re going to wake up tomorrow knowing that this is your last day on earth would you go to work? Or would you practice something you love?
Ok so we still have to make a living but how can you change your lifestyle to incorporate more of what you love and to push out anything that is pulling you down? Look at your routine how often are you caring for yourself? How much time do you leave for yourself to do or explore something you love? Make it your mission this week to spend 10 minutes each day incorporating something you love into your normal routine.
