Positive thinking is a mental attitude in which you expect good and favourable results. People who practice “Positive thinking” approach life's challenges with a positive outlook. This does not mean that they avoid or ignore difficult situations. Instead, it means they approach challenges by believing in their own abilities and trying to see the best in other people.
"Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
Abraham Lincoln
Successful people often claim to have made a lifestyle around positive thinking. They often adopt practices such as journaling, or meditation to help them to address negative feelings or thoughts and reaffirm positive ones.

So what are the benefits of thinking positively?

  • Reduces daily stress
  • Better health
  • Confidence
  • Live Longer
  • Happier
  • Better management of important decisions

It’s very difficult to transform from a pessimist to an optimist overnight, however, there are a number of things you can do to start approaching life in a more positive way.
Below is a table of negative thoughts which have all been given a positive spin. Why not record a list of your negative thoughts today and give each one a positive spin?

Negative vs Positive Spin
Negative thought
Positive spin
I’ve never done it before
It’s an opportunity to learn something new
It’s too complicated
I’ll tackle it from a different angle
I don’t have the resources
Necessity is the mother of invention
There’s not enough time
Let’s re-evaluate some priorities
There’s no way it will work
I can make it work
No one communicates with me
I will start the conversation
I’m not getting any better at this
I will keep trying

Here are some other ideas to apply positive thinking:

  • Use positive words when talking.
  • Focus on the positive things in your life.
  • Use words that evoke strength and success
  • Practice positive affirmations
  • Start thinking you will succeed!
  • Analyze what went wrong
  • Forgive
  • Think of a failure as an opportunity
  • Practice visualization techniques

Overall people who practice “Positive thinking” approach life's challenges with a positive outlook. IT IS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE YOUR THINKING. Reframing your thoughts can help you to deal with negative situations and can reduce your stress and improve your health and happiness
The first step to reframing your thinking is being aware of your experiences and situations. Practice mindfulness and use journaling to capture your experiences, then reflect on what you could have done or said differently. The more aware you become the more likely you are to be able to react positively to the situation. Being grateful for the positive things in your life can help you to stay grounded when things are difficult.
