My Cup Needs Filling

So, as you know it’s been a hell of a few years. Always giving with very little in return.

It is said that we preach what we ourselves most need to know.

Right now, I am preaching about self-care and not just any self-care, EXTREME self-care.

I touched on this in Blog 11 where I was implementing self-care strategies that were making me a softer gentler human being.

But it turns out I have to crank it up a notch.

I have decided that I will only do things now that create joy. I am done with obligations. D.O.N.E!

Walks in the park bring me joy. Painting in watercolour brings me joy. Reading brings me joy.

And how much of this have I done lately? None.

Instead, I have devoted my time to a home project that has me “doing” from literal sun up to sun down every day for months.

I’ve been so busy doing that that ‘being’ never entered the equation.

So today, and for the first time in weeks I am going across to the park over the road and walking till I feel I’ve scratched that itch.

Then I’ll return to read my first fiction book in years – The Accidental Husband by my favourite author Jane Green.

And then I’m literally going to do nothing. Maybe I’ll dabble at my watercolours if I feel like it.

Have you ever had to implement extreme self-care? What did it look like? Is there something that worked for you that might work for me? Let me know in the boards.

Here’s to a blissful rest of the day.
