I Am My Biggest Saboteur

The person I need to forgive the most is me.

I’ve been doing the Hawaiian forgiveness technique called Ho‘oponopono for a few months now.

This practice is all about clearing away of old beliefs that hold you back from living your best life. Its design is to free you of the burdens of past/present negativity.

When I first set out to do this exercise, I created a new word document and sat in front of my computer for several minutes trying to come up with instances of my negative and limiting beliefs showing up in my life.

After around 3 mins of coming up with nothing, I almost walked away but I didn’t. I made myself sit there till I came up with just one.

I finally found one limiting block that caused me pain, then another surfaced and I wrote that down, then another and another. This didn’t stop, by the time I finished I had written 10 solid pages.

10 pages filled with old memories, beliefs about love, about what’s possible for me and why I wouldn’t be successful in my life.

It was a heavy list.

The idea with the practice of Ho‘oponopono is to sit with each negative belief and to feel it in your body. When you feel it physically then you say, “I forgive you, I’m sorry, thank you, I love you”

And like magic that thought or belief that once caused pain is neutralised creating empty space where once housed a heavy unnecessary negative feeling.

I’m happy to say that after doing this for 10 pages worth of accumulated crap I felt freer than I’d ever felt.

That’s no small task, each of those 10 pages had 20 emotional baggage triggers to clear away on it.

Once I finished all 10 pages, breathing suddenly felt easier, I didn’t feel so weighed down by my emotions anymore.

Since starting this 43 blogs in 43 days challenge I never know what I’m doing to talk about till I sit down.

Today’s blog comes courtesy of another yucky though/opinion I had about myself this morning.

So, I did the Ho‘oponopono and moved on. But then I realised it was a great thing to write about, so here we are.

I highly recommend doing this technique to help shift triggers, and old tired beliefs that are holding you back from living your best life.

If you’d like to try Ho‘oponopono you can download the funsheet here to help clear away any negative beliefs you might have lying around.

Blessings, see you tomorrow xx
