Don't Let Common Life Goals Become Your Life Goals

Setting your life goals is one of the most life-changing things you can do.
Yet it’s so easy to fall into the trap of writing down what we think our life goals should be rather than taking time to actually understand ourselves determine what our values are and then develop goals which have meaning and significance to us.

It’s not obligatory to have
  • “get married before 30”
  • “become a manager”
  • “backpack around Peru”

Now that’s not to say that there is anything wrong with these goals if it’s what you really want but we shouldn’t feel pressurised by social norms.

Goal setting can be extremely powerful and have a profound effect on people’s lives if done effectively.

For goals to be authentic it's important to define your own personal criteria for success. These criteria should be clearly established in your mind based on your values and regularly updated based on changing circumstances and lessons learned over time.

So how do you stop yourself falling into the trap of writing the goals you think you ought to have rather than the goals that capture your deepest desires?

Well, here at TheSingleLife we like to think we are a little different from the norm.

We are passionate about helping people to become their true self.  That means that we help you to explore who you are and who you want to become on an individual level. We will help you to recognise values both your own and those of society so that you can thrive.

We are passionate about empowering you to become the person you truly are, so you can live the life you deeply deserve to live.
